About Membercare Insurance

Membercare Insurance is the result of both fact finding and thorough knowledge of health insurance related matters combined with a vision to be available for the missionary.

The fact finding 'happened': Kees van der Wilden, nowadays in his role as staff member of the WEA Mission Commission, met -during his visits to several mission fields- with many missionaries from global North and South who did not have any kind of health insurance. In most cases the reason was lack of funds! In some cases the absence of a health insurance already had resulted in attrition,the premature return of a missionary to his home country. This experience triggered Kees to start thinking about the availability of a payable health insurance for missionaries.

The thorough knowledge of health insurances is due to the skills of Peter van der Schans who, in his 15 years of experience has developed a 'sixth sense' for all the aspects of importance related to insurance matters. He knows of the rules and regulations issued by the (Dutch) government, is fully certified and understands the policy-making developments of insurance companies. Last but not least he knows of the real needs for the insured and thus knows how to decide upon a balanced insurance product.

But above all, both Peter and Kees have a desire to serve the missionary, as a part of 'Member Care' in making available for them a payable insurance covering the expenses of -obviously needed- medical assistance. That's how Membercare Insurance came into existence.
